The Blooming Threads exhibition at
the Australian National Botanic Gardens, March 6 to May 27 was a great
success. There was a constant stream of visitors through the
gallery. So many people didn't believe that the specimens weren't
real that we had to put a smaller version of the front gate billboard on
the end wall of the Gallery to convince the visitors that they were in the
right place.
Thanks to all the people who have given me copies of the
photos they took. I have sorted them into topics - just click on
the row that interests you to access the rest of the photos in
that section. Please understand that these are "happy snaps", not professional photographs (though
some are very good) but they still give an overview of the exhibition. If you
find a mistake, please let me know.

We set up just after the enormous storm
that filled Canberra's streets with piles of hailstones, and damaged
dozens of buildings.

I arranged embroideries on
the interesting timber I had collected to display the pieces,
while Graphic Designer Barry Brown hung the information panels. |
 |
 |
The specimens were set out according
to the region they come from, making the exhibition a "round Australia" tour, starting with South Australia and Victoria,
up through Queensland and the Centre ...... |
 |
 |
...... to the Top End and down through Western Australia |
 |
 |
I filled the cabinet at the end of the Gallery with examples of
early work, working drawing, partly made pieces, and the threads and
wire used to make them. |

 |
There were a number of special days -
Artist in the Gallery and Meet the Maker were
very popular. Canberra Needlework also hosted a Workshop "Dyeing without Dipping" |
 |
 |
The exhibition was such a success I wanted
thank everyone who had contributed, so I threw a party. |
